The museum was set up in 1909 by professor engineer Dimitrie Leonida (1883-1965). The building of the museum, situated in Carol Park, was part of the exhibition complex built in the first part of the century. It contains over 6.500 items from mechanics, electricity, chemistry, nuclear energy, magnetisn, mining, oil industry, heating; lighting, cinematography, telecommunications, calculating machines, hydraulics, air and spacecraft, printing and typewriters, power engines and cars. It is subordinated to The National Company of Electricity - CONEL.
